and now I cannot get rid of it! I decided that another book, closely named and written, was no long one I wish to order. I Gave it a 3 star rating as I figure it cannot be worse than the last one I read about Ed & Lorraine. Such a shame as they have done quite a bit of good over the years.
Great insight to the paranormal world by one of the founders of the field. A good introduction to what the lives of the Warrens was like from the beginning of their work. I don't know if I agree with some of the reviews as being "not prepared for this", or being scarred by this "frightening" book. Maybe after watching tons of ghost hunting shows and other shows focusing on demonic oppression and possession I've become somewhat desensitized, but I believe in what the Warrens did. I've seen Lorraine consult in many other television shows, and of course I'm very familiar with Amittyville and also the house noted in Enfield. It was nice to hear what drove them to this field as well as appreciate that these two people met, and worked to gather for over 60 years doing what they loved.
This is one of the most intriguing books I've ever read. These people have been through so much. They are a blessing to the world. They have helped and saved a lot of people in the Lord's name.i have gotten questions since I've bought the book. No I do not want to be a demonologist. No I'm not going to summon demons. No this book isn't cursed. No nothing will happen if you read it. Nothing strange has been happening. There are creepy story's that happened here but fear is what the enemy wants. Educate yourselves with this book and many others.
I found this book to be fascinating. I hated to put it down. Some of it was a little frustrating as I wish they had gone in to more detail, but I understand they do not want to lead people down the wrong path. It's a blessing these two meeting and doing what they have accomplished. I am sure many people they have helped are grateful too! I couldn't imagine doing what they did or knowing what they know. I would have constant fear. I did not find the book itself to be scary, but some of the stories in it made me thankful for the hours of light we have in our day. I would really like to research the stories they talked about and recordings would be interesting to listen to.
A little over half way through it. So glad they have begun to republish, I have waited a long time. Great look behind the curtain to the spiritual battles being fought all around us. I would recommend anyone and everyone read this with seriousness and almost as an educational piece. So far only a few sections have really been "scary" but I wouldn't read it alone in the dark either ;) I have a feeling that a LOT was held back and actually reading the details, etc. of the cases would be too intense for most people so they really did a good job overall but I would love to dig deeper. The more you know about the enemy, the better equipped you are to fight him!
Having been raised a Catholic this should scare the life out of me. The truth is I've always been fascinated by the thought of this possibility. I was always the kid who stayed up all night on Halloween watching the late night horror movies. But none affected me as much as possession stories, because we're taught it is true.
5 stars not because I love it but because I hate the stupidity, ignorance and the dangers people in the story from this book subjected themselves and their families. Ed and Lorraine Warren talks about the dangers involved in this field and how its not a joke or a laughing matter. There are some specific details about how they operate and some principles and techniques that they revealed from their research and experience in this dangerous field. Scary and informative...this book will definitely make you pay closer attention to your family. One of the most riveting book I've ever read based on this subject. Read with caution..
This book will NOT disappoint you! Barring some errors the editor missed, this book is FANTASTIC! I've been following Ed & Lorraine's career for over 30 years and thought I'd read everything that existed about the two and their careers. Last week though, I learned of this book and immediately bought it...good move on my part! I was pleasantly surprised to learn as much as I did from it. The book not only includes the well-known cases, (which had many new facts I didn't know,) but the author also included cases that weren't public knowledge. As with Gerald Brittle's other book, The Devil in Connecticut--also a must-read--his details were meticulous and spooked even me at times. Don't hesitate. Buy this book now!
I wasn’t sure for a long time whether I wanted to get this book because though I highly respect the Warren’s and their work, I wasn’t sure I wanted to know more about demons then I already did. But it was after a lecture I attended featuring Dustin Pari who spoke highly of it, that I finally decided to get it and I’m very glad I did. This book answered questions I’ve had for over 20 years. I have gifts/abilities myself and have since at least the age of 11 and I’m always hungry to learn more and answer questions. This book provided me that. Yes it’s about demonology but it’s also about life balance; which is so important. I’d recommend this to people who are seeking the truth.
