This book IS someone's truth.Margaret McHeyzer does not hold back in this book. Through Hannah we see the horrid spiral that a life with crystal meth does. It happens so fast and furiously; her reality is severely altered, lies, upon lies, anger and hate along with the harsh physical changes. Hannah's story is ugly, but she had a few people left on her side that were determined to see her through.This new to me author has completely blown my mind with her incredible ability to take such a severe subject and one where our society confronts on a daily basis and write this graphic tale of the gravity of this addiction. #everyonemustread
SO.. I'm not even sure where to start but this book is probably one of my top reads for 2018. It was probably one of the hardest books to read as well. Its Raw, real, heartbreaking, down right ugly. Margaret has a way with words, I've read quite of few of her book.. and I absolutely love her writing.Hanna was s a 17 yr old sweet, bright, beautiful young woman who was full of life and who wanted all the good things that life would hand her.. that was till the day she met Edger. She knew he was a bad person but she couldn't help but be drawn to him. Edger was a very manipulative man. He knew what he needed to do and say to get what he wanted. What he wanted was the sweet Hanna.I truly believe this book gives you a look into the life of someone addicted to drugs. what they crave, the pain they go thru, the self destruction, but I do also believe that it gives you hope. Hope that if you were addicted, your friends and family would be there, to help you get to where you need to be to get yourself clean."For you, I'd walk to the end of the earth, and still have the strength to kill anyone who'd hurt you. This book is raw, emotional, and heartbreaking. I cried and wanted to scream so many times while reading this book. Hannah wanted to be a teacher. She worked hard to get good grades. Edgar is a drug dealer and predator. This book takes you on an emotional journey of the life of someone addicted to drugs. The lies and things she does and thinks are true just blew my mind. This book has a powerful message, the truth about ADDICTION...Hannah fate was in the hands of predator, manipulated, and played..This story is hard to read, but is example how drugs can take over your life.
Another gut wrenching, every emotional response, hard truth telling book from Margaret McHeyzer. This story is ruthless in the telling. No shying away from the reality and so excellently written. This book will make you laugh, cry, scream, and want to do violence but you'll turn every page to see what's next and how it goes on. A must read for all!
As I'm reading this book, I'm thinking wow how fast things are happening, but what people don't get is addiction can happen that fast. It's so scary how many people are addicted to these drugs. Most wind up dead or in jail but some like Hannah get a second chance at life. Thanks for an amazing read.
